Roller blades

The roller skates have been working well enough that tonight Ben wanted to try the roller-blades. He had a ball!

Cake mix

Aldi had a sale on cake mixes last week. $.25 a box. If you know me I love a deal so let's just say I bought several. I was taking them to the basement and Benjamin rescued one saying he wanted cupcakes. (I really wonder how he knows about these things. We haven't had cupcakes since his 1st birthday.) Anyway, I consented and he helped me make them complete with putting the cup cake rapers in the muffin tin. As they were cooking he started singing Happy Birthday to Daddy. I didn't know he knew the song. He amazes me everyday!!!
I tried to get a good picture of he and Daddy eating the spoils but he was upset that his cupcake was gone and that his hands were dirty so he wouldn't smile. Oh well, their both still cute!

New Floor

Check out the new floor. I'm not completely done with grouting under the appliances and touching up the corners. None of the baseboards have been replaced either, but we're that much closer to being done with the kitchen and able to move on to the windows, shutters, basement, crown molding, fence....need I say more?

Oink Oink

We have decided that Benjamin definitely has a sense of humor. Last night at dinner, he ate really well. We had been talking about it and praising his performance. We were finishing up and Joseph handed him a little piece of bread. He put it to his mouth and said oink oink. We both almost fell off our chairs. What a turkey!

Roller Skates

I bought Ben some cheap roller skates this weekend at a church rummage sale on our way to the farm. I thought that maybe I could put some black shoe polish on them and be in business.
Ben has a pair of roller-blades and isn't able to use them though he loves to try. I thought that maybe having these would help him get it. He of course loved them and was surprisingly nimble. He fell a bit, would act surprised and then would jump back up and motor somewhere else.
Check out his outfit. A friend at church bought it for her grandson but it was to small. She gave it to us today. It is way to big for Ben, but he insisted on wearing it and pulled it out of my church bag. The shorts are practically pants. Joseph thought that something about this reminded him of the early 70's. Ha!

approved application

We are happy to report that our adoption application has finally been approved by LDS Family Services . It is always a process to get approved, and then you wait. We had such a wonderful adoption experience with Benjamin, we are hopeful that we can have another child. Check us out on the link below. If you see any ways in which we can improve our message please make some suggestions!

Just a funny story....I've been working with Benjamin with flash cards, (numbers, colors, objects, etc). I took some cards to church for him to play with. This crazy kid turned around in sacrament meeting to the boy sitting behind us and said pick a card, any card..any card...any card. This kid is a crack up!

Tuck it in tight

Joseph taught Ben how to carry a football. Now all we have to say is tuck it in tight and the little football is impossible to wrangle away from him. Joseph also told him to hold his other hand out to ward off defenders but he only does that occasionally.
Benjamin is hilarious!!! Last night he dropped his spoon at dinner. Joseph picked it up and as he was giving it back to him said, "what's the magic word?" Without hesitation Benjamin said "Abracadabra". It was not the word Joseph was looking for but he got the spoon. He makes us really laugh every day!

Our weather has been beautiful. We have been spending most days in the yard. Benjamin is loving the trampoline. I ordered a pad for it this week which should be delivered soon. After it comes we will put up the netting (for all of you that get nervous about us letting our kiddo jump without the safety stuff.)

Mini-golf

Yesterday a friend introduced me to a miniature golf course about 10 miles from our house. Best part is that kids play for free and adults are only $2. Ben loved it for about 5 holes and then wanted to crawl on the train nearby. I was thrilled to find this....it will be a great family home evening one night later in the summer. They also have an ice cream stand and that will definitely be a favorite with my boys! Of course I got there with my camera hoping to capture cute shots of Ben putting and of course my camera batteries died. Bummer!

Cookies

Last night we had a late dinner. I had made cookies earlier in the day and offered one to my boys. Benjamin tried to convince me that Buzz Lightyear needed a cookie too. We were discussing that and Joseph said, "I need to get myself a toy." Totally cracked me up!

Easter egg hunt

Benjamin enjoyed his Easter egg hunt. The weather was wonderful getting up 85 degrees. In fact the weather has remained nice. I have the peas planted already which is several weeks earlier than normal.

My other birthday present

This was my other birthday present. The shelves are from Ikea and I love them. Behind the cupboards we keep all of Ben's toys books and movies. It has helped to keep the family room neat and orderly.

Birthday flowers

Joseph came home with these yesterday. I thought that it was a beautiful birthday bouquet.
